A project of the Nova Scotia Choral Federation, the Children's Chorus of Nova Scotia is a new program where talented singers in grades 5-9 are provided with a challenging opportunity to achieve choral excellence. Selected from all over the province, singers will get to work with a team of musicians who are respected in Nova Scotia and across Canada, making this an exceptional learning experience.

Music and Commitment

Music will be mostly SA with some SSA repertoire, chosen by the guest conductor. The program is designed to be fun, accessible, but also challenging, to encourage the singers to higher levels of music making than what they normally get in a school choir setting.

Singers are expected to learn their music on their own, with help from their music teachers. Singers will be provided with online practice recordings to help them learn their parts. Notes, words and rhythms should be in place before the regional rehearsal. All music and materials will be delivered to the conductors of the selected singers by February 19, 2016.

Commitment: All choristers must be able to commit to the following dates: (all rehearsals and performances are mandatory)

April 2 or 3, 2016: Regional Rehearsals
All singers must attend one of the three regional rehearsals listed below occuring on April 2 or 3, 2016.  If they do not they will be dismissed from the choir.  If they can't make it to the regional rehearsal in their due to a conflict they may attend a different rehearsal.

Valley Region (Kingston United Church) - Sunday, April 3rd - 1:00pm - 5:00pm

HRM (Dartmouth Schools Music Centre) - Saturday, April 2nd - 9:30am - 1:30pm

North/Central Region - (Truro First Baptist Church) - Saturday, April 2, 1:00pm - 5:00pm

April 15-17, 2016: Rehearsal/Concert Weekend in Truro
The final rehearsal session will be led by the guest conductor Mark Sirett, culminating in a final concert Sunday afternoon. See website for sample schedule.
