An opportunity to work with celebrated choral conductors Scott Leithead (Adult Choir Camp) or Jakub Martinec (Youth Choir Camp), will be made available to emerging Maritime choral conductors through a new Internship Choral Conducting Program held in conjunction with Adult Choir Camp and Youth Choir Camp

During the course of the each camp, the successful applicants will be provided the following conducting opportunities:

• 45 minute private lessons each day with the guest conductor
• Podium time* conducting 1-2* pieces with the Youth/Adult Choir Camp choir, leading to performance at the final concert.  (*discretion of guest conductor) The YCC choir is approx. 65 mixed voices aged 13-18.  The ACC choir is approx. 45 mixed voiced adults.
• Contributing to daily 30 minute Morning Warm-up/Vocal Health Sessions

This apprenticeship program is extremely practical, and designed to allow the apprentice to personally customize and maximize their learning.  Together, guest conductor and apprentice will determine where to focus their energies for the week to make the most of the experience offered.

All rehearsals/concert will be video recorded for review with guest conductor and for future personal use.   Private accommodation will be provided with a space set up for practice, study and equipment for review of tapes and listening to recordings.  Surrounded by a forest of hemlock trees and colourful cottages, this is the perfect setting to be inspired and absorbed into focused practice.

Dates:  August 12-18 or 20-25, 2012

        Includes full tuition, music scores to keep, all accommodations and meals. 

        Week 1 (YCC with Jakub Martinec - 6 full days): $450.00

        Week 2: (ACC with Scott Leithead - 5 full days): $375.00
       
Application requirements:

• a video/DVD up to 10 minutes in length which includes footage of the candidate in both rehearsal and performance
• a video/DVD up to 10 minutes in length showing their vocal ability - in a song, scales showing range and in a warm up exercise
• a letter explaining the candidate's interest in the program (please state which week you are applying for!) as well as the reasons he/she should be chosen
• a resumé outlining the candidate’s choral conducting experience
• one letter of reference
